Jeu de Paume occupies the north-west corner of the Tuileries in Paris, named after the 1861 Second Empire building that once housed indoor tennis courts and later the Impressionist collection, until those paintings left for the Musée d'Orsay in 1986 and the space turned to photography and moving image. Five or six shows a year run from twentieth-century photo history to contemporary installation, with frequent retrospectives on women photographers and post-war photojournalism, plus film and documentary screenings.
