mumok

mumok moved into its dark basalt-clad block in the MuseumsQuartier in 2001; the institution grew out of the Museum des 20. Jahrhunderts founded in 1962. The spine of the collection is Vienna Actionism, Austrian post-war art and the Central European avant-garde, with international Pop, Minimalism, conceptual photography and Fluxus documents alongside, plus a separate holding of works on paper and media art. Hangings are thematic rather than chronological, so the same works read differently a few years later. Collection records and the exhibition archive are searchable online. ⭐ Notable: Vienna Actionism archive, Fluxus documents, photo and video collection 🔗 Collection: https://www.mumok.at/en/collection
