MART covers modern and contemporary art for Trento and Rovereto, its main Rovereto building designed by Mario Botta with a light-filled dome and galleries spiralling around a courtyard. It is more than exhibition halls: Casa d'Arte Futurista Depero elsewhere in town preserves the studio and furniture of the Futurist Fortunato Depero, Galleria Civica di Trento runs contemporary projects inside Trento, and the Archivio del '900 holds twentieth-century Italian art documents and manuscripts open for research by appointment. The collection runs from late nineteenth-century Italy to the post-war decades, thickest in Futurism and the neo-avant-gardes.
