Van Abbemuseum

The Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven was founded in 1936, one of the first public museums in Europe devoted to contemporary art, by the local cigar manufacturer Henri van Abbe. The collection leans on the Russian avant-garde with one of Europe's larger El Lissitzky holdings, plus Picasso, Kandinsky and Van Doesburg, and post-war conceptual work and installation. The 1936 building remains, a new wing was added in 2003, and the museum routinely re-hangs the collection by theme rather than chronology, so the same works read differently a few years later. 🔗 Collection: https://vanabbemuseum.nl/en/collection
