Centre Pompidou-Metz opened in 2010 as the first decentralised branch of the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and the first time a French national museum set up outside the capital. The building by Shigeru Ban and Jean de Gastines wears a woven timber roof that behaves like one large tent.
