Kolumba

🔗 English version: https://www.kolumba.de/?language=en

Kolumba is the art museum of the Archdiocese of Cologne. Holdings run from late antiquity and the Middle Ages to work made today, and the hang deliberately mixes devotional objects with contemporary pieces instead of marching through time. The 2007 building by Swiss architect Peter Zumthor wraps excavated foundations and galleries in a finely jointed brick volume, with openings that pace the visit. Displays are re-hung every year or so, and special exhibitions alternate with the permanent material. 🔗 English version: https://www.kolumba.de/?language=en
